A recent tour of the new Viessmann headquarters
in Warwick, Rhode Island, gave GasNetworks members a closer look
at some of the most cutting-edge heating technologies in the industry
today. Viessmann’s
state-of-the-art Warwick facility houses a distribution center,
a demonstration site for the manufacturer’s full product
line, and the Viessmann Academy, one of three top-notch training
centers operated by Viessmann in North America.
Viessmann has developed a comprehensive range of technologies for
generating heat, including wall mounted appliances, large boilers,
domestic hot water cylinders, high-efficiency solar heating systems,
heat pumps, and ventilation systems with heat recovery. During
the facility tour, GasNetworks members were introduced to some
of the latest innovations among Viessmann's product line-modulating
burners, stainless steel tanks, plug-in wiring, service-friendly
designs, and more.
Viessmann’s Vitotec line features state-of-the art technology,
function and design that offer substantial benefits for both heating
contractors and system users. The Vitotec control unit provides
the intelligence for efficient energy management, and natural gas
boilers are available in all performance classes. Installation
is straightforward and made simple by the heavy use of pre-wired
plug-in connectors that eliminate wiring concerns. In addition
to their “smart” systems, every one of Viessmann’s
products has been systematically designed as a stand-alone unit.
Because their modular technology is based on a consistent platform
strategy, various components and different functions can be assembled
on a common platform. This reduces the time and effort required
for installation by the heating contractor. Entire subassemblies
can be readily replaced as complete units. Replacement parts are
common to all modules, thereby reducing stock levels and costs.
The modular design also simplifies the maintenance, servicing and
operation of the equipment. The line’s diversity makes it
ideal for virtually every installation, need and budget.
Thanks to flexible production scheduling and dependable logistics,
all Viessmann products are available on short notice at all times.
Customers can place online orders for Viessmann’s current
product range, as well as product information, instruction manuals,
and service documentation. The company’s customer support
services include software support, sales financing, and the provision
of point-of-sale materials for heating contractors’ own in-house
promotional activities.
Since the 1960s, the education and training of industry partners
has been an essential part of Viessmann corporate philosophy. Through
the Viessmann Academy, the company offers a wide variety of training
courses designed to help heating professionals master the technical
challenges of tomorrow. Last year, more than 60,000 trade partners
participated in Viessmann Academy training courses worldwide. In
North America, three Viessmann locations across the continent provide
comprehensive training and support to the heating community; their
Warwick headquarters is the newest Viessmann Academy training site.
A family-owned company founded in 1917, Viessmann operates ten
manufacturing facilities in Germany, France and Canada. They operate
106 sales and distribution centers in Germany and 33 other countries
to provide customer proximity and a strong global presence. Viessmann
offers a complete range of high-tech, state-of-the-art heating
products, each a design-matched component in the progressive Viessmann
system technology. Despite the size of their company, which now
employs approximately 6,800 staff, and its international commitment,
they still regard themselves as an independent, family-owned company-one
that derives its strengths from longstanding business relationships,
strong regional ties, and employees who identify closely with the
company. Dr. Martin Viessmann currently heads Viessmann, the third
generation of the Viessmann family to manage the company.
GasNetworks would like to thank Viessmann for its hospitality and,
in particular, Jim McCarthy and Steve David for sharing their knowledge
and expertise on these innovative products.
