Applying for the Low Income Gas Rate If you are receiving SSI, TAFDC, EAEDC, Food Stamps or Refugee Settlement benefits, click here and complete an application on-line. Your information will be transmitted to the Department of Transitional Assistance electronically for verification. If you are receiving MA Health, Head Start, Public/Subsidized Housing, National School Lunch or Breakfast Program, Mass. Veteran's GLC 115 benefits, Improved Veterans Disability Pension or Dependency and Indemnity Compensation for Surviving Parents of Veterans benefits, do not submit the electronic form but instead print a copy of the form. After completing it, mail the company the form and a copy of a document that provides verification that you are receiving these benefits. Mail the form and document to: Bay State Gas Company, 2025 Roosevelt Ave. PO Box 2025, Springfield, MA 01102. Again, to be eligible for the Residential Discount Rate, the income of customers participating in these programs cannot exceed 200% of the federal poverty guidelines. This Low Income Gas Rate provides a discount of approximately 20% off natural gas service rates. And it will not affect any other public assistance benefits you receive.
